Anto’Neyo/”Boss Man Tone”/Mac Daddy $crillah was born Antonio Joseph Grzeca Strodthoff on August 1, 1993 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is an innovative and expressive musician and proprietor of a multinational imperial establishment. At 18, he recorded with renowned Tanzanian musicians AY and CʼPwaa (who are bothMTV and Channel O Award Nominees), and also produced an EP entitled #DistortedVenting. Anto’Neyo grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a rust-belt Midwestern city two hours north of Chicago infamously known as a national leader in segregation, black poverty, high school drop out rate, and teen pregnancy. His biological parents were challenged by drug addiction and struggled to provide suitably for their children. Anto’Neyo and his biological brother were placed in foster care that was also a very difficult and challenging home. When he was five years old, Anto’Neyo and his brother were adopted. His new family was multi-cultural—Anto’Neyo and his brother were two black sons, and his mom and dad, two white parents.
Anto’Neyo’s childhood was unconventionally strict, he hardly watched any TV and his parents took parental advisory seriously, so much of contemporary rap music was banned during his early years. Anto’Neyo’s musical curiosity was insatiable—he built a stage in his basement, choreographed and produced daily live performances inspiration and found his musical inspiration in all kinds of genres—from Michael Jackson and Marvin Gaye, to Sweet Honey in the Rock, De La Sol, Common, Indigo Girls and Mozart.
Through out his school career, Anto’Neyo was an outspoken outcast, and was ostracized and bullied for his differences. His music fostered his march to his own drum, and also helped alleviate the social stress of being different. Anto’Neyo grew increasingly more familiar with his gift and his artistry. He began to settle into his music and perfect his craft.
Throughout his young career Anto’Neyo has accomplished many admirable and imposing accolades. He performed at many showcase events in Milwaukee during high school and become one of the youngest city-wide known professional engineers/producers at 15. At 16, Anto’Neyo traveled to Orlando, Florida for the National Core DJ Retreat and was initiated into the national network. Throughout high school, he recorded and engineered at the Running Rebels Community Organization becoming one of the founders and leaders of M-2 Entertainment. In this experience he also learned to meld young people’s passion for music with helping them strive for a better future, as he mentored youth and young adults who struggled with staying in school. As a leader in M-2 Entertainment, Anto’Neyo also met and worked with mainstream artists such as Gorilla Zoe, Mulage, Slim from R&B group 112, Young Steff, F.L.Y Boyz, Waka Flocka Flame, Mims, OJ Da Juiceman, Brisco, Ray Nitti, and Ray Rizzy.
Anto’Neyo has toured Tanzania, Africa with Wanene Entertainment CEO Darsh Pandit. He has appeared on Friday Night Live on East African Television, and has been interviewed at radio stations throughout Tanzania such as Clouds FM, East African Radio, Triple A FM, Radio 5 and Sunrise FM.
